Welcome everyone to the fourth edition of The Finan Factor here at MAYDOGMA!!!  NO, NO, NO I did not quite, I am not gone, I am back and better than ever, ok enough with the Eric Bischoff music but I am back to write another article for MAYDOGMA!!!  Before I get started about two or three weeks ago my cousin sent me an Instant Message and asked me if this means I quite, of course not, I am still around, he could not have gotten rid of me that easily, I have been thinking about that, I wonder if I was getting fired by him, interesting I assume if this never gets posted I was canned.  Oh well on with the fourth edition of The Finan Factor!!!

-So we begin with sports and my reactions on the NHL and NBA Finals!!!

-Well here is the deal if the Mighty Ducks of Anaheim win the NHL Stanley Cup then go New Jersey Nets, if the New Jersey Devils win the Stanley Cup go San Antonio Spurs, in other words I do not want both New Jersey teams to win.

-I have nothing against the Nets but two New Jersey teams winning that is ridiculous!!!

-Hey, quick trivia, when was the last time two teams who played in the same building both made the NHL and NBA Finals?

-The answer is 1994, when the New York Knicks and New York Rangers both made the finals in their respective league.  That was unbelievable, I was six years old and had just moved up to Connecticut and I actually remember of a lot of both runs, I was thrilled when the Rangers won, devastated when the Knicks won but life goes on, of course I have never been born around so far for a Knicks championship but life still goes on.

-Believe it or not I actually have a better feeling about the New York Yankees this year than I did last year, that is right, I can see this team going in and winning three out of five or four out of seven then I did last year!!!

-Only about four months away from University of Notre Dame Fighting Irish Football!!!

-I have a feeling that this could be “The Year” since they were back on the scene last year and they are ready to take it one step further this year!!!

-My cousin Tim Mayer, Maydog’s brother, said a few years back that Notre Dame was going to win the National Championship in 2003, so his prediction is at stake, what will happen, I want him to be correct, well it all begins on September 6, 2003 (Yes, my sixteenth birthday!!!) against Washington State at Notre Dame Stadium in South Bend, Indiana!!!

-2-2 GO DUCKS!!!

-So what category is next, oh Connecticut!!!

-Who came up with this category, well I guess Thomas Hooker could take the blame, HAHA, or Bryan Mayer, either one can take the blame.

-Apparently Connecticut has a professional sports team again, the Connecticut Sun, I actually have something to say about that.

-Since they play in the WNBA which is owned by the NBA, I am surprised that the NBA would let a team be owned by a casino, I just find that unreal, I mean they might land up losing some money but that way, plus the Connecticut Sun, changed the team’s name!!!  They used to be the Orlando Miracle, I think the Connecticut Miracle is a pretty cool sounding name, then again they play women’s basketball so no one really cares what they are called.

-Ever notice the most obscure events always occur in the state of Connecticut, such as the exposing of Milli Vanilli happened in some random place in Connecticut, The Gobbley Gooker thing happened at the Hartford Civic Center, so on and so forth.  We last Friday night they had ESPN 2 Friday Night Fights at the Mohegan Sun Arena, which is pretty cool until two under carders go to, what looks like, exchange gloves when one goes to exchange the other knocks him out, ONLY IN CONNECTICUT!!!

-Well, no other exciting news going on in this state, well that Yale University bombing thing but that is a mystery in its own right, I went overboard when that first happened since the New York News was talking about but then I noticed that it really was nothing, so we will move on to the third and final topic WRESTLING!!!

-Man I have not had time to watch a lot of wrestling lately, I have watched WWE Raw though so the streak is still going, ten years and six months of seeing every single WWE Raw!!!  I will mainly focus on Elizabeth Houlte, I hope I spelled the last name right, well most people know her as Miss Elizabeth!!!  I could not believe it when I heard she died, I remember sitting their watching WWE Raw and hearing about it and I got the coldest feeling ever, it was that feeling that you get when you hear something has gone horribly wrong or something very bad is going to happen to you, it is one of those feelings, I just sat there staring at the television thinking NO, NO, NO it can not be true!!!  I was so upset, I was upset since she was just one of those people who when you say women in wrestling the first name you think of is Miss Elizabeth and now that lady is gone!!!  I just started thinking about the whole build up to and the actual match at WWF WrestleMania VIII between Ric Flair and Randy Savage, I was like Bobby Heenan has cancer, Mr. Perfect died and now Miss Elizabeth died.  I remember sitting in home in Wantagh at the age of 4 watching WWF Prime Time Wrestling and they were discussing all of the events in this storyline and they were just moments that really made me a big wrestling fan, sometimes you can feel those moments.  I actually can feel those moments any time I heard “To Be With You” by Mr. Big, I guess it was just a popular song and reminds me of the Winter of 1991-1992!!!  I just could not believe one of the main factors in that whole storyline was gone!!!  Thank you Miss Elizabeth for the memories and you will surely be missed!!!

-Well that basically does it for the fourth edition of The Finan Factor, so I will be back next week with the fifth edition of The Finan Factor for MAYDOGMA!!!

John Finan is enjoying life in Trumbull, CT. He will never use the word “rant” in another column because the management at MAYDOGMA thinks it makes him look like a tool.  Email John at finan@maydogma.com.
